1. Why did you choose SMWC?
I chose SMWC partly because I am a legacy. My grandmother attended here as a non-traditional student years ago – I actually got to watch her graduate. I remember walking on this campus as a little kid and thinking how cool it must be to go here. Then, as I grew up, I fell in love with horses and always knew I wanted to be a teacher. This school offered me a chance to study and do what I loved – teach and ride!
2. Why did you choose your major?
I knew from a very young age I wanted to be a teacher. I would sit for hours and play teacher, and while what I wanted to teach changed through the years, teaching never did. I’m passionate about education, and here at The Woods, we have a wonderful, dedicated, experienced and talented group of people in the education department who really set their students up for success after college.
3. What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is The Grotto, especially in the fall. It’s so beautiful there, and most days it’s quiet and empty. It’s a nice spot to just sit and be some days. I also, of course, love our horse barns too! Even on the coldest days, I loved being there.
4. What is a favorite memory you have from your Woods experience?
My favorite memory from The Woods was in my first few years here riding for the equestrian team. I loved my teammates, coaches, and of course, the horses. Anytime I’m on a horse, it’s my favorite memory, and the team just made it so much more special.
5. How do you plan to stay connected to SMWC after graduating?
I plan to stay connected through continued support of the equestrian team and through the many alumni events that are hosted.
