Rachel Foy

Name: Rachel Foy
Major: Music Therapy
Hometown: Nashville, Indiana

1. Why did you choose your earn your degree at SMWC?
I chose to go through the program here because it has more benefits than other music therapy programs. I had the opportunity of doing practicum work and going through guitar and piano exams in the program!

2. Why did you choose your major?
I love music and wanted to have a career that would help people. It’s so fascinating how music can be used as a tool to therapeutically benefit those with mental and physical needs!

3. What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place is Le Fer Hall because I tend to spend most of my time there, but I also enjoy being in the music conservatory and sitting on the new furniture there, too!

4. What have you been involved in (student clubs and organizations, sports teams, etc.) during your time at SMWC?
I have been involved in MTSA (Music Therapy Student Association), Sustainability Club and Student Senate (Treasurer).

5. What is a favorite memory you have from your Woods experience?
Ring day is my favorite memory, because it symbolizes how much I have grown as a person by giving me a ring that I view as a piece of the school I will have with me forever.

6. How do you plan to stay connected to SMWC after graduating?
I will keep in touch with alumni and go to mass here on campus during special events such as the Feast of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin.
