What is the Woods Fund?

Blog | 09.23.2022

A question often asked is ‘What is the Woods Fund?’ – the answer is simple. The Woods Fund is an unrestricted annual giving fund that allows the College to help students where help is needed the most. Giving students an exceptional educational experience is what Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is all about, and the Woods Fund plays an essential role in making that happen. Because of the Woods Fund, students receive scholarships and financial aid that make their Woods education a reality. Whether on campus or online, the Woods Fund assists in enhancing every student’s college experience.

Student, Lauren Keith makes a call on Woods Giving Day.
A day devoted to engaging alumni, friends and family to support SMWC and the Woods Fund.

The Woods Fund is primarily funded by alumni of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. Its continued success is a demonstration of the pride the alumni have in their alma mater. The financial support received by the alumni is a symbol of the love they have for The Woods, and it speaks volumes to those who benefit from it.

At SMWC, we are not just awarding degrees. We are preparing students to navigate the world, stay true to their values, effect change and be amazing Woods women and men. The Woods Fund provides much-needed financial support to students, faculty and staff bringing to life our mission. In addition, it also helps to fund leisure activities for students like color runs, food trucks on campus and more. After all, it’s important to have fun in college too, right?

Our foundress, Saint Mother Theodore Guerin, said, “You will be happy yourself in making others happy.” There is no better time to give than now. The Woods Fund is not only a building block for our students, but it is an investment in the future of SMWC.
