Biography

Education & Qualifications

Dr. Huffey holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Indiana State University. He holds the Health Service Provider in Psychology (HSPP) endorsement to practice as a psychologist in Indiana.

Professional Contributions

Areas of Specialization, Publication, & Research

Dr. Huffey specializes in the correctional psychology and practices with Corizon Health at Wabash Valley Correctional Facility, within the Indiana Department of Corrections. He also serves as training director for their Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers member doctoral internship in professional psychology program. He trains correctional professionals nation-wide in Moral Reconation Therapy, an evidence-based program for the treatment of criminal thinking and substance abuse, sponsored by Correctional Counseling, Inc. His research interests have primarily centered on training Master’s and doctoral level mental health professionals and intercultural practice and education of psychology. He has presented his research at numerous state, regional, national, and international conferences.

Recognition and Awards

Dr. Huffey is a two-time winner of the Sister Mary Joseph Pomeroy Award for Faculty Excellence in Scholarship and one-time winner of the Award for Faculty Excellence in Service. He is a two-time winner of the Alumni Faculty Award for Leadership and was awarded the Jean Wilkowski Global Perspectives Grant three times for his intercultural research in Perú, South America. He also received the “Spotlight on Professionalism” award from Correctional Medical Services for his work as a psychologist within the Indiana Department of Corrections.

Professional Service / Membership

Dr. Huffey is a member of the American Psychological Association. He serves as an advisory board member for the Indiana State University Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in Social Work.
