Below are answers to the most frequently asked questions about our virtual immersive online Master of Sport Leadership (MSL) program. Have a question, but do not see it listed? Request more information about the program.

What can you do with a Master’s in Business Administration?

Getting your Master’s in Business Sports Leadership opens many doors for new or advanced opportunities. Here are some jobs for people with an MSL:

  • Assistant Athletic Director
  • Athletic Director (Middle School, High School, or College)
  • Coach (Youth, Collegiate, or Professional)
  • Coaching Education Specialist
  • Community Recreation Director
  • Compliance Officer (NCAA or other governing bodies)
  • Director of Operations (Team or League)
  • Director of Player Development
  • Facility or Venue Manager
  • Fan Engagement Coordinator

You will notice that most of these positions are in leadership or management. That is because the MSL program provides the tools you need to advance in your career and succeed in those jobs (more than you would without an MSL).

Do I have to have a bachelor’s degree in business to get an MSL?

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required to be admitted into the program, but it does not have to be in business.

When do MSL classes start?

The program begins in August. Two eight-week courses are taken each session with the potential for a third course depending on the students’ needs.

Can I work during the program?

Yes! The MSL program is designed for working professionals. With the program at SMWC being 100% virtually immersive online, you do not have to worry about the distance between you and our campus.
