Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College senior Erin Pugh (Terre Haute, Ind.) was named Women’s Soccer Player of the Week by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) for her performances in matches in the first week of October. Pugh, a forward, scored once in a victory over Trine University and set a new Pomeroy single match record with four goals in a victory over Berea College. A graduate of Terre Haute North Vigo High School, Pugh earned a number of honors, including USCAA All-American and All-Tournament Team selection at the 2009 USCAA National Tournament. She has scored eight goals in the first nine matches of the 2010 campaign, on schedule to possibly break her 2007 mark of 13 goals in a single season.
Coach Mike Aycock has high praise for Pugh’s accomplishments. “Erin consistently brings everything she has to a match,” he explains. “Even when we’re not controlling possession as much as we’d like, we can be dangerous because Erin is making runs, creating shots, and getting things done in the attacking end of the field,” Aycock added.
