Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College received a silver award from the “Higher Education Marketing Report” 28th Annual Educational Advertising Awards. The full-page ad publicly announced the launch of the College’s campaign to build a sports and recreation center titled the Pomeroy Pride Campaign.
The Pomeroy Pride ad captures a powerful moment of SMWC student athletes grasping hands in a show of solidarity and team spirit. The ad published in the Tribune Star in October 2012.
The distinguished award symbolizes the excellence and creativity of the SMWC Office of College Relations and its ability to engage audiences.
“ We were honored to learn we earned the silver award,” said Kristy Fry, director of publications at SMWC. “The ad’s message focused on the meaning of Pomeroy Pride, which is a passion to aim for higher standards on every path in life. It also encouraged our community to join our campaign to build a sports and recreation center and to support the epitome of Pomeroy Pride.”
The competition, sponsored by the “Higher Education Marketing Report, is the largest education advertising awards competition in the country. This year, nearly 3,000 entries were received from more than one thousand colleges, universities, and secondary schools from all fifty states and several foreign countries.
The judges, a panel of leaders in the field of advertising reviewed each piece, judging creativity, marketing execution and impact of message. More than 345 institutions were recognized as gold, silver and “Best of Show” winners.
