Christina Buell

Buell is a Clay City native. After a decade of working and elevating a career in the production field, Buell began to be exposed to the world of human resources. She then decided to return to school and earn her human resources degree. As a full-time wife and mother of three children, Buell shared that her drive to help others kept her going. “I just wanted to be a great HR person. I wanted to focus more on the employee side of the business – being an employee advocate and giving them a voice,” Buell said.

Terry Bowe, associate vice president for diversity, equity, inclusion and human resources, shared that Buell has already proven to be a great asset to the team. “After a very talented search, we have welcomed Christina Buell as our HR Coordinator.  Christina has three plus years of HR experience and will add significant experience within our department focusing on the payroll function as well as other key components of the HR space,” Bowe said.

Buell shared that she’s always been familiar with SMWC. She’s looking forward to building connections with all who are a part of The Woods family. “Being from the area, I’ve always known about this place. I love the small-town feel here. Everyone seems to be really close here, and it’s just nice to know each other and see familiar faces. I instantly felt comfortable. Brooke and Terry have really been amazing,” Buell said.

In addition to getting to know the campus more, Buell shared that she looks forward to making connections at the College. “I’d say I’m most looking forward to building relationships. I think in an environment like this, you get to work more closely with a variety of individuals, from faculty to students. I’m very excited to be a part of The Woods,” she said.
