This is seen in the stories of this issue as we take you on the journey of 180 years of SMWC. The Spring edition of Onyx Anneau reminisces to the summer of 1965 when Midge Maroni ’68 and others traveled to Georgia to answer Martin Luther King, Jr’s call to participate in the SCOPE (Summer Community Organization [and] Political Education) program. It also features stories about the Woods Legacy Ring Program and how alumni are keeping in touch during the pandemic.

Fall 2020

Now branded Onyx Anneau, the fall edition has a refreshed look that includes stories from alumni, students and highlights employees. It focuses on the growth of the College through the construction of a new residence and dining hall. Dottie King, Ph.D., shares her 10 years of experience as president of SMWC. It also features stories of alumnae who are working on bettering their community through office.

The Fall/Winter issue of Onyx highlights Reunion 2019, as well as, Move-in Day, the Aspire Higher Campaign, the Madrigals winning an international competition and many awards received by alumni, faculty and staff.

The theme of the Fall/Winter 2018 issue of Onyx is legacy. It provides a small glimpse of the legacy of a Woods education and the many lives touched. This issue honors alumni, celebrates Reunion 2018 and encourages all to think about the legacy they inherited and the legacy they will leave for future generations.


Spring-Summer 2018

The Spring/Summer 2018 issue of Onyx is a special edition. It is the Aspire Higher Campaign edition and shares how this $22 million comprehensive campaign is a part of the strategic plan of the institution. Emphasis on the “I Love Le Fer” initiative is highlighted, including photos of the Roaring 20s campaign kick-off and renovations already in progress in the Green or Sullivan Parlor. Student Kayla Moats shares what it is like to be a student at SMWC and live in Le Fer Hall. Other features include the Aspire Higher Tour, Week of Service, the 2018 Distinguished Alumni Award, campus news, class notes and much more.
