Congratulations to Kim LaComba and Stacey Hendrix, two members of the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College staff who were recognized this week for their accomplishments in higher education.
LaComba, director of the Learning Resources and Writing Center at SMWC, was named Innovative Educator of the Month for May 2012 by the Cengage Learning Developmental Studies team. She will be featured in the May Issue of the Developmental Studies eNewsletter, sent to more than 25,000 educators across the country. She has also been invited to speak next week at the annual meeting of the Association for the Tutoring Profession.
Hendrix, the SMWC Faculty Resource Center Coordinator, is a finalist for the Techpoint Mira Young Professional Award. The Mira Awards honor outstanding businesses, startups, schools and educators, organizations and individuals for their contributions to the state’s technology-related economy. Hendrix has also received the peer-nominated Outstanding Staff Award in 2011 for her leadership in converting SMWC’s distance correspondence distance courses into an online format. In addition, she coordinated the quality review process for 261 courses for the 2011-2012 school year. The final decision for the Mira Award will be made on Saturday, May 12, 2012, in Indianapolis.
We appreciate the dedication of LaComba, Hendrix, and all of our staff and faculty. Their passion and commitment are at the heart of the ongoing success of The Woods.
