SMWC’s Reed joins Terre Haute Human Relations Commission

Mayor Duke Bennett appointed Dee Reed, associate vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, to the Terre Haute Human Relations Commission (HRC). She was sworn in Jan. 6 in a ceremony at City Hall.

Reed said about her appointment, “I am honored to support the city in its efforts to establish our city as a model of a just and equitable community.”

The Human Relations Commission leads Terre Haute in building an inclusive community by:

  • Enforcing the Human Rights ordinance
  • Empowering the community to eliminate barriers to equality
  • Educating the public about rights and responsibilities regarding discrimination

Reed’s term will end December 2023.
