Transfer Scholarships
The criteria listed determine eligibility only and do not guarantee receipt of the scholarship.
Transfer Merit Scholarships
- Amount: Unlimited number of awards: Trustee Scholarship - $11,000 President's Scholarship - $9,000 Dean's Scholarship - $7,000 towards the cost of tuition only.
- Qualifications: Qualifying female admitted transfer students attending SMWC full-time in a degree seeking program. See GPA requirements below. No separate applications required.

- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA for the Trustee and President's; students must maintain a 2.5 minimum academic cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for a total of eight semesters.
Ivy Tech Grants
- Amount: Unlimited number of $2,500 awards towards the cost of tuition only.
- Qualifications: Qualifying female admitted transfer students attending SMWC full-time in a degree seeking program can receive the award up to three years if the student maintains full-time status. Ivy Tech Grants are awarded in addition to any Merit-based Transfer Scholarships. No separate applications required. Can be combined with Merit Scholarships.
- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for a total of eight semesters.
SMWC Transfer Grant
- Amount: Unlimited number of $2,000 awards towards the cost of tuition only.
- Qualifications: Qualifying female admitted transfer non-Ivy Tech students, attending SMWC full-time in a degree seeking program can receive the award up to three years if the student maintains full-time status. SMWC grants are awarded in addition to any Merit-based Transfer Scholarships. No separate applications required. Can be combined with Merit Scholarships.
- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for a total of eight semesters.
SMWC Promise Grant
- Amount: Unlimited number of $3,000 awards towards the cost of tuition only. This replaces the Ivy Tech grant.
- Qualifications: Qualifying female admitted transfer students attending SMWC full-time in a degree seeking program can receive the award up to three years if the student maintains full-time status. Students must file FAFSA and demonstrate a combined family income of less than $60,000. SMWC Promise Grants are awarded in addition to any Merit-based Transfer Scholarships. No separate applications required. Can be combined with Merit Scholarships.
- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for a total of eight semesters.
21st Century Scholars Scholarship
- Amount: All students receive free room and board scholarship (double room occupancy).
- Qualifications: Qualifying female admitted students attending SMWC full-time in a degree seeking program must be a state verified 21st Century Scholar. No separate applications required. Can be combined with Merit Scholarships.
- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for a total of eight semesters.
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
- Amount: Unlimited $11,000 award towards the cost of tuition only.
- Qualifications: Qualifying female admitted students attending SMWC full-time in a degree seeking program that have been recognized by the National Phi Theta Kappa organization. No separate applications required. Replaces the Merit Scholarship.
- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 3.2 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for a total of 8 semesters.
Illinois Eastern Community Colleges (IECC)
Stackable with merit and other awards
- Amount: Unlimited number of $2,500 awards towards the cost of tuition only.
- Qualifications: Qualifying admitted transfer students who graduated from an Illinois Eastern Community College and are attending SMWC half-time in a degree seeking program can receive the award for the duration of their enrollment if the student maintains half-time status. No separate applications required. IECC Grants cannot be combined with any other awards.
- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for a total of 8 semesters.
SMWC Grants
- Amount: Depending upon demonstrated need, up to $10,000 towards the cost of tuition only.
- Qualifications: Qualifying female admitted students attending SMWC full-time in a degree seeking program must have submitted their FAFSA. No separate applications required. Can be combined with Merit Scholarships.
- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew and show need based on FAFSA results.
Post 911 GI Bill/Yellow Ribbon Program
- Amount: The Indiana State highest cost of tuition as determined by Veterans Administration. SMWC and VA will award funds to cover the total cost of tuition and fees.
- Qualifications: Qualifications determined by the Department of Veteran Affairs as determined by the Post 911 GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon Program requirements. Cannot be combined.
- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for a total of eight semesters.
Cottey College Transfer Grant
- Amount: Unlimited number of $11,000 awards towards the cost of tuition only.
- Qualifications: Qualifying female admitted Cottey transfer students attending SMWC full-time in a degree seeking program can receive the award up to three years if the student maintains full-time status. Cottey College Grants are awarded in place of Merit-based Transfer Scholarships. No separate applications required. Cannot be combined with Merit Scholarships and/or Continuing Education Grant
- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for a total of 8 semesters.
Military Grant
- Amount: Unlimited number of $3,000 awards towards the cost of tuition only.
- Qualifications: The College’s Military Grant is a $3,000 per academic year Grant awarded to Campus students who have served on active duty or are currently serving in the reserves that do not qualify for the Post 911/GI Bill Yellow Ribbon. The $3,000 grant is applied yearly toward the cost of tuition for all qualifying Campus students who are enrolled as full time. This Grant is renewable for 4 years while the student maintains full-time status with satisfactory academic progress and enrolls in at least 2 semesters each academic year. This grant can be combined with merit awards based on financial need and academic standing. Qualifying admitted students attending SMWC full-time in a degree seeking program can receive the award for the duration of their enrollment if the student maintains full-time status. Grant is awarded to the military service members, spouse and/or dependent who is a veteran, on active duty or are currently serving in the reserves (documentation required in the form of DD-214 or NOBE). No separate applications required. Can be combined with other awards.
- Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree. The $3,000 grant is applied yearly towards the cost of tuition for all qualifying students based on full-time enrollment. The grant is renewable for 6 years for part-time students and 3 years for full-time students while the student maintains satisfactory academic progress and enrolls in at least 2 semesters each academic year.
