Admissions and financial aid

You’ve probably already become friends with one of our admissions counselors. They’re the ones who have informed you what the college has to offer, how to apply and let you know you’ve been admitted. They’re a reliable source to contact when you’re in a rut. In the same vein, financial aid will help you before you become a Pomeroy and throughout your college career. This team is the real MVP because they help make you a debt-free college graduate.

Learning Resource Center

Located on the second floor of Rooney Library, the LRC is the perfect place to get personalized services to boost your success. It doesn’t matter if you’re a campus, commuter or online student — this is a place for all to grow and reach your goals. If you’re struggling with studying, individuals will give you tips and tricks for productive sessions. Are you having trouble getting used to juggling classes, social life and activities? They can teach you about time management. Just reach out, and they’ll be happy to help.

Tutoring

A subset of the LRC, you can book one-on-one time with a tutor for any of your subjects. If a tutor isn’t available, we’ll find you one. The end goal is your success. Once you’ve mastered the subject matter, you can make money tutoring others. It’s a resource that keeps on giving.

Counseling Center and Pomeroy Care

Feeling stressed about the amount of information we’re giving you? No worries, it’s normal — we’ve got resources for that too. Meet with our campus counselor to ease your anxiety. They can also help you deal with homesickness, relationship difficulties, coping and overall concerns. If you do not need an entire session but a quick pick-me-up, meet with the campus therapy dog, Sadie. This sweet golden retriever will let you pet her all day. If you need help after hours, check in with Pomeroy Care, a 24-hour telehealth option.

Career Development

This one-stop shop assists you with your resume, attaining an internship and preparing for job interviews. While transitioning from high school to college can be difficult, going from college into a career poses its own set of challenges. Luckily, SMWC’s faculty and staff are available at every step of the way to ensure success. It’s not just about getting you out the door — it’s about all the growth that happens to get there.

Public Safety

This department isn’t academic-related, but equally as important. Our security personnel works around the clock to keep students safe. The Woods is committed to making comfortable, secure environments. There’s additional lighting, 24-hour patrols and providing text and email message alerts.
