Campus Transfer Scholarships

The criteria listed determine eligibility only and do not guarantee receipt of the scholarship.

All Scholarships: Unless otherwise noted, the following scholarships are for qualifying admitted students attending SMWC full-time in a degree-seeking campus program. Students must maintain the specified cumulative GPA and show academic progress towards their degree to renew each scholarship for a total of eight semesters unless otherwise noted. All scholarships & grants are subject to replacement or reduction due to other awards.

SMWC Transfer Merit Scholarships

  • Amount: Determined by transfer GPA.
  • Qualifications: Qualifying admitted students attending SMWC full-time in degree seeking program.
    Scholarship  
    Trustee Scholarship:        GPA 4.0 or greater     $12,500
    President's Scholarship:   GPA 3.5 -3.99  $10,500
    Dean's Scholarship:         GPA 3.0 - 3.49  $8,000
       
  • Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain up to a 3.0 GPA (depending on scholarship) and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for a tota of 8 semesters.

21st Century Scholars Scholarship (Tier 1)

  • Amount: At the time of admission students who have a GPA of 3.0 or above are eligible for the $21,000 award. The scholarship can be used towards tuition.
  • Qualifications: Qualifying admitted students attending SMWC full-time in a degree seeking program, must be a state verified 21st Century scholar and must live on Campus. Students are also required to complete 30 credit hours per academic year and file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by April 15th. 
  • Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA, satisfactory academic progress towards their degree and adhere to the 21st Century rules/regulations of the State to renew the scholarship for a total of 8 semesters. The SMWC 21st Century Scholarship cannot be combined with other institutional awards or scholarships.

21st Century Commuter & (Tier 2) Scholarship

  • Amount: At the time of admission students who have a minimum GPA of 2.5 - 2.99 or will be a commuter student will be eligible for the $15,000 award. The scholarship can be used towards tuition and fees only.
  • Qualifications: Qualifying admitted students attending SMWC full-time in a degree seeking program and must be a state verified 21st Century scholar. Students are also required to complete 30 credit hours per academic year and file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by April 15th. 
  • Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA, satisfactory academic progress towards their degree and adhere to the 21st Century rules/regulations of the State to renew the scholarship for a total of 8 semesters. The SMWC 21st Century Scholarship cannot be combined with other institutional awards or scholarships (except athletics).

SMWC Legacy

  • Amount: Student must be related to an Alum of SMWC. Relationship will determine whether they will receive up to $1,000 or $5,000 towards the cost of tuition only.
  • Qualifications: Admitted as a full time student in a degree seeking program and cannot be combined with Alumni Referral Grant. Alum must be a Grandparent, Parent (step), Sibling (step), Aunt/Uncle, Niece/Nephew to be eligible for up to $5,000. Alum must be a cousin, in-law, or distant relative to be eligible for up to $1,000. Must provide name, year of graduation, and contact information of the Alum.
  • Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA to be eligible for additional three years.

Pomeroy Athletic Scholarships

  • Amount: Determined by Head Coaches and Athletic Director.
  • Qualifications: Qualifying admitted students attending SMWC full-time in a degree seeking program are considered for Pomeroy Athletic Scholarships by the Coaches based on athletic talent and team needs. Students must be a campus, degree seeking student and the award is renewable yearly based upon Athletic Director and Head Coach recommendations. No separate applications required. Can be combined with awards to the maximum athletic offer.
  • Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for a total of 8 semesters and remain and active member of the team.

SMWC Endowments

  • Amount: Amounts vary depending on remaining financial need.
  • Qualifications: Qualifying admitted students attending SMWC full-time in a degree seeking program.  The amount of the scholarship is determined by the student's unmet financial need after other awards are applied.  If additional awards are applied after the initial packaging, the SMWC Endowment will be adjusted accordingly.  Once the student is committed to SMWC the generic endowment will be switched to a named donor. 
  • Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the award for a total of (8) semesters.  Other SMWC awards or offers may reduce or replace this award.   

Post 911 GI Bill/Yellow Ribbon Program

  • Amount: The Indiana State highest cost of tuition as determined by Veterans Administration. SMWC and VA will award funds to cover the total cost of tuition and fees.
  • Qualifications: Qualifications determined by the Department of Veteran Affairs as determined by the Post 911 GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon Program requirements. Cannot be combined.
  • Renewable Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and satisfactory academic progress towards their degree to renew the scholarship for a total of eight semesters.
