My name is Claire Trenshaw, and while volleyball plays a big role in my life, it is far from the only thing that brings me joy. I work in the Admissions Office on campus. I enjoy bonding, not only with the people I work with, but with the people I encounter throughout the week! I get to meet lots of new people and introduce them to our school for the first time!
One of the most meaningful communities I am involved in is Women’s Formation, a Catholic Bible study through St. Joseph Parish in Terre Haute. This group brings together women from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, Indiana State University and Rose-Hulman to grow in faith and build lasting connections centered in our love for the Lord.
I am the SMWC representative for Women’s Formation, helping coordinate campus Masses in Le Fer Hall and encouraging others to get involved. Being part of this community allows me to honor the rich history of our College and uphold its strong Catholic identity. Through Women’s Formation, I see the beauty of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin’s mission lived out daily; faith and trust in God’s providence, perseverance through hardship, a commitment to education, compassion for others and respect for all life.

These values can be easily overlooked in the business of college life, but having a community that intentionally emphasizes living out our faith makes a significant difference. Even when my schedule feels overwhelming, my faith remains a constant, something I can carry with me wherever I go.
Our campus offers many ways to find peace and renewal, from the chapel in Le Fer Hall to peaceful walks around our beautiful campus, as well as supportive professors and friendly faces always willing to help. My advice to others is to embrace every opportunity to grow academically, spiritually and personally, and to discover who you were created to be.
